what is autism?
Autism is a wheel of different brain functions. It only has a name because of three things.
- Autistic people tend to act less like the average person.*
- An autistic person will typically have a LARGER BRAIN than a nuerotypical (non neurodiverse**) person, which makes us slightly different
- Because scientists like to categorise things.
Stimming
When an autistic person (like me) feels a large emotion (on a range of [anything] to [anything]) they will typically start stimming. Stimming is a repetative [anything] (sorry for the [anything]s) used to calm the self down. Neurotypical people do it as well, but ableist*** people usually think it’s 'worse' for autistic individuals.
Autistic people also usually have better hearing, so loudness being uncomfortable can also call us to stim!
