what is autism?

Autism is a wheel of different brain functions. It only has a name because of three things.

  1. Autistic people tend to act less like the average person.*
  2. An autistic person will typically have a LARGER BRAIN than a nuerotypical (non neurodiverse**) person, which makes us slightly different
  3. Because scientists like to categorise things.

Stimming

When an autistic person (like me) feels a large emotion (on a range of [anything] to [anything]) they will typically start stimming. Stimming is a repetative [anything] (sorry for the [anything]s) used to calm the self down. Neurotypical people do it as well, but ableist*** people usually think it’s 'worse' for autistic individuals.

Autistic people also usually have better hearing, so loudness being uncomfortable can also call us to stim!

autism and my cat are NOT related! (Obviously!)

JUST TO BE CLEAR, AUTISTIC PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE ANIMAL BRAINS!!!!!!!!!  😡 (a stupid theorest said that and now its ONLINE.)

Dont belive anything negative  said online about autism unless it’s on a reliable website!

*e.g. stimming

**person who has a more diverse brain than average e.g. dislexia, ADHD

***someone who is like racist and sexist but to disabled people and neurodiverse people
